FAIR Fish produced a mobile phone application for migrant workers designed to provide information on safe migration, forced labor, human trafficking, responsible recruitment, and grievance mechanisms. This app is also a platform that facilitates consultation on labour issues. The mobile application is available in Thai, Burmese, Khmer, and English
The number of occasions the mobile application on safe migration was downloaded and used to communicate with migrant workers about forced labor and human trafficking.
Post training questions in the mobile application showed that
Of users said they learned something new from the mobile application;
Said that they plan to share their learnings with family, friends or colleagues; and
Said they planned to apply what they learned to their everyday life or job.
Even the people who are illiterate can still use the app… The advantage of the application is that they can press the icons and listen to the question and answer. So they complete the four modules. … They even send the link to their friends. And so, make it become popular among migrant workers.

“… it’s very beneficial for migrant workers using only their mobile phone, because they can just learn in their own time, at their own pace and they can do it anytime. They don’t have to be afraid whether they will be supervised or surveilled by anyone.”

In order to train migrant workers on how to use the mobile application, FAIR Fish contracted three civil society partners, who conducted outreach to migrant communities to assist them with downloading and using the mobile application, while building awareness with them about their rights.
